Who Is Welcome at Messiah?

Messiah is a community church that feels like family—and lives like it:

grateful to God, kind to one another, curious about what God’s doing

next, gracious about our goof-ups, and committed to blessing the world Jesus loves.

Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church is a community of Christians seeking to welcome and connect everyone,

make disciples of everyone, and share Jesus' love everywhere.

You are welcome here if you are single, married, widowed or divorced; gay or straight; male or female.

You are welcome here if you have more bills than you can handle, and are welcome if you have more money than you know what to do with.

You are welcome here wherever you went to school, whatever you learned (or didn't learn), whatever language you speak, wherever you're from,

and however you get around.

You are welcome here if you grew up Lutheran or if you don't know what a Lutheran is.

People who have mixed feelings about religion are very welcome here, as are people who have no idea

why anyone would go to church, who are here to make their relatives happy,

or who turned onto the wrong "Old Rand Road" from Highway 12.

You are welcome here if you drink, if you don't, if you are in recovery, or if you are not quite there yet.

You are welcome if you can't stand your parents or if you text them five times a day, and especially welcome if you do both.

You are welcome here if you are angry, cheerful, confused, doubting, hurt, happy, listless, lost, wistful, yearning,

right-wing, left-wing, or not into politics.

You are welcome here if all you really need is to be around people.

You are welcome here even if you root for the wrong sports team, are in the wrong mood, or just want to sing.

Messiah is an inter-generational Lutheran community church striving to follow the heart

and teachings of Jesus and working to change more and more lives with

His love. We’re a church of singles, couples, families, and folks of all kinds,

and we celebrate the sacredness, dignity, worth, and equality of all people—

regardless of race, ethnicity, language, age, abilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression,

socioeconomic status, spiritual background, marital status, family structure, or anything else.

God designed human biology to make us different from one another, and ‘people of peace’ try to appreciate

these differences as we work together to bless real people’s lives and the world.

And because our differences can also bring tension and challenge,

learning to accept and embrace them helps us grow in maturity and wisdom.

We’re all God’s beloved children, but we’re also sinners in need of God’s

amazing grace. At our best, Messiah is a church that tries to walk the way of

Jesus: grateful, faithful, and bold. When we fall short- as individuals or churches

do- God lifts us up, dusts us off, and whispers words of wisdom and grace. And

then we move on. Whatever roads you’ve taken in life, whatever decisions kept

you going or knocked you off track, whatever brought you to Messiah, we’re

grateful you’re here. We hope you’ll come visit, test the waters here, and join us

in the joy of following the Messiah, Christ Jesus, too.

You are welcome here because God welcomes you.
